Senior Project

Concerto Night 2016

For my senior project, I chose to audition and perform in Cottonwood High School's Concerto Night 2016 and write a research paper on the composer of my piece, Sibelius. The research portion was written and revised in my University of Utah Writing 2010 class, and finished on March 8, 2016. I auditioned and was selected to be one of seven soloists for Concerto Night. After months of practicing, our performance was on March 5, 2016.

Concerto Night 2016

Sibelius Violin Concerto

Playing violin is my greatest passion and I am very glad I was able to use the most important performance of my senior year as my project. Concerning the research paper, I learned a lot of interesting information about Jean Sibelius. Through the knowledge I gained about his life and his inspirations, I play his concerto with much more meaning to try my best to portray the vision he had. Concerto Night is the best performance to be a part of at Cottonwood. The months of rehearsing, the 6:15 AM rehearsals, the 9-hour rehearsal the night before. All this is worth it when I walk on stage to perform my favorite concerto with the people I love supporting me, as family, friends, my director, and the orchestra and band.
